MVI provided National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS)-approved Protected Species Observers (PSOs) to support geophysical survey operations within the REV01 lease area.
PSOs utilized Mysticetus reporting software to collect detailed data on monitoring effort and protected species detections. All collected data were remotely reviewed by MVI project management staff for quality control. Other technologies used for the project included handheld infrared cameras (HHIR), reticle binoculars, a DSLR camera, and a rangefinder. Daily progress reports summarizing monitoring activities and results were submitted to the client. The client was provided access to an interactive map of the lease area featuring live updates of protected species sightings and immediate notifications of any reported incidents. When necessary, PSOs delivered mitigation guidance to vessel crews to ensure full compliance with applicable state and federal regulations.
