Bluefield Geoservices US, Inc. contracted MVI to provide protected species monitoring and mitigation services for geotechnical investigations at the Ørsted Ocean Wind 2 site in Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) lease area OCS-A 0532. Protected Species Observers (PSOs) provided vessel strike avoidance monitoring throughout operations, including during reduced visibility conditions, using alternative monitoring technologies such as night vision devices.
Mysticetus reporting software was utilized to provide comprehensive geo-referenced data on operational effort and detections of protected species. A detailed final report was delivered to the end client, which was compliant with BOEM and National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) regulations.
