MVI provided pre-construction nesting shorebird survey personnel and reporting to support the Jacksonville Harbor maintenance dredging activities in 2020. The surveys took place over 10 days at the Bartram Island dredged materials management area (DMMA). MVI’s highly experienced shorebird monitor followed survey methodologies aligned with Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) protocols, including daily surveys and 15 direct count stations. All data collected were reported to regulators in compliance with the Migratory Bird Treaty Act, National Environmental Policy Act, Endangered Species Act, and Florida Endangered and Threatened Species Act. Placement activities were able to commence as planned following the 10 days of pre-construction monitoring.
