MVI provided aerial protected marine species monitoring support for an aerospace rocket launch test conducted by SpaceX in Cape Canaveral, FL. An experienced aerial Protected Species Observers (PSOs), along with a fixed-wing aircraft and crew, were provided to the client for pre- and post-launch visual monitoring of the waters around the launch site. The Aerial PSO ensured that the surrounding waters were clear of protected species and relayed information to the launch crew. MVI developed protocols for mitigation in the event that a delay due to protected species was necessary. Monitoring effort data, including flight path, communications with the launch team, and detection information, was provided to the client in a summary report following the successful launch.
