MVI provided an agency-approved aerial observer to monitor for marine protected species from a helicopter during the high-speed marine race events occurring over two days. MVI ensured regulatory compliance for the event following USFWS and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) manatee guidelines and best practices. Observation occurred during daylight hours for one hour before, during, and 30 minutes after the high-speed race event. The Aerial observer implemented impact-reduction measures, recorded detailed data, provided daily reports, and followed stranding or “take” reporting procedures as required by regulators. All race events were completed on schedule and in compliance.
