Project Summary

MVI was contracted to provide Protected Species Observer (PSO) services in support of geophysical survey operations in Southeast Alaska for the Fiber Inland System Hub (FISH) project, which aims to expand broadband capacity to rural communities. For this project, some of the technologies used included Reticle binoculars, a DSLR camera, a rangefinder, and National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS)-compliant data collection forms accessible remotely in real time by the MVI project management team. MVI also coordinated lodging and transportation for personnel working in remote and logistically challenging locations. Daily reports were submitted to the client summarizing PSO monitoring activities and any mitigation measures implemented. Following completion of the survey, MVI provided regulatory-compliant final reporting to state and federal agencies documenting PSO monitoring activities and protected species detection data collected throughout the operations.
